On Tuesday (16 June 2026), the Walchwil Bike Club celebrated the third Köbi Cup award ceremony at the Zipfel. The award honours Jakob ‘Köbi’ Zimmermann and keeps alive the memory of an exceptional cyclist and much-loved club mate.
Jakob Zimmermann stood out for his great ambition, his dedication and his passion for cycling. At the same time, he was an extremely popular member of the Walchwil Bike Club, who left a lasting impression with his personality and commitment. The Köbi Cup therefore stands not only for sporting achievements, but also for community, enthusiasm and the joy of cycling.
This year, the award goes to Team Kids. Week after week, the young cyclists in Years 2 to 6 take to the trails with great enthusiasm. With impressive courage and an admirable sense of ease, they master ramps, pallets, stones and numerous other obstacles. In a playful way, they develop confidence on their bikes, improve their riding technique and strengthen their belief in their own abilities. Despite all the progress and challenges, one thing always remains at the heart of it all: the joy of sharing the experience together.
The Team Kids award not only recognises the commitment and enthusiasm of the young riders, but also their valuable contribution to the future of our club. They embody, in a special way, the passion and dedication that also characterised Jakob Zimmermann.
The atmospheric evening came to a delightful close with fine grilled meats, delicious side dishes and a lavish dessert buffet. In a convivial atmosphere, memories were shared, successes celebrated and a sense of community fostered – very much in keeping with the spirit that the Köbi Cup embodies year after year. kh.
