Well played – but still lost

On Sunday (19 October 2025), FC Walchwil played against SC Cham III, who are second in the table. Unfortunately, the match in Cham ended in a 2–0 (0–0) defeat.

Coach Vilson Simoni's players put in a solid defensive performance from the start, allowing the home team's attackers few opportunities. The visitors also managed to create a few chances in attack and put in a combative performance. The score remained 0-0 going into the second half.

The visitors managed to keep a clean sheet for a long time in the second half, but this came to an abrupt end in the 67th minute. Cham caught the otherwise focused FCW defence twice in two minutes, giving them a cushion that they did not relinquish until the end of the match. Walchwil knew how to respond, but, as in recent matches, they unfortunately failed to capitalise on their best chances.

They only managed two shots against the post, and so FC Walchwil lost a match in which they were evenly matched for long periods. Next weekend, FCW hosts its last preliminary round match against FC Muotathal and hopes for a conciliatory end to the first half of the season. Dale Hager
