Walchwil local bus now electric

The Walchwil local bus has been serving part of the municipal area for over 10 years and provides an important service as a feeder service for buses and trains. The local bus (route 626) is now fully electric.

The local bus travels quietly through the Walchwil neighbourhoods, connecting these areas with the village centre. Whether to change to the S-Bahn S2 or to catch the bus to Zug. As part of the sustainable orientation of the municipality of Walchwil and Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe AG, the tried-and-tested Walchwil local bus is now purely electric. The modern electric bus, which has 13 seats (a total of 22 seats including wheelchair space), has already successfully completed test drives and will set new standards in terms of travelling comfort. This type of vehicle is the first of its kind in public transport in the canton of Zug.

As ZVB line 626, the Walchwil local bus runs four times every half hour from Monday to Friday during peak times on a circular route between the railway station – Oberwihel – Aesch – Oberhalten – Oberdorf – railway station. Together with bus route 605, which connects the neighbourhoods of St. Adrian, Vorderberg, Oberdorf and Hörnli every hour throughout the day, the local bus provides public transport within Walchwil.
