The notary's office of the municipality of Baar has been providing various services for Walchwil for around three years. As of the new year, Baar will take over all local notarial tasks from Walchwil.

The municipal council of Walchwil has decided to have all notarial services handled by the Baar notary's office in future. The first tasks of the Walchwil notary's office have already been transferred to Baar since 1 January 2022. This collaboration has proved successful, which is why the municipality of Walchwil is now transferring all other notarial competences to Baar. Only notarisations of signatures and photocopies can continue to be made in the Walchwil municipal administration.

With this solution, the municipality of Walchwil is following the strategy of the Conference of Municipal Presidents of the Zug municipalities, which is focussing on increased notarial cooperation between the municipalities. This strategy aims to ensure a reliable service, particularly for smaller municipalities, in the event of staff shortages in the notary's office. By pooling these tasks, Walchwil can benefit from the experience and infrastructure of the larger municipality of Baar, which has already taken over notarial services for the municipality of Neuheim since August 2020.

The notary's office of the municipality of Baar is now responsible for notarisations in the area of property law. This includes

- Contracts for the transfer of ownership (e.g. purchase, gift, assignment, exchange, etc.)
- Establishment of condominium ownership
- Contracts for the creation of limited rights in rem (e.g. easements, mortgages)
- Contracts on memorable personal rights (e.g. pre-emption, purchase and repurchase rights)

The Baar notary's office is also authorised to carry out public notarisations in civil matters. This includes, for example, marriage and inheritance contracts, wills, advance care directives or company law transactions such as incorporations, amendments to articles of association, liquidations and others.

The notary's office of the municipality of Baar, which will also serve Walchwil in future, is located in the municipal administration building at Rathausstrasse 6 in Baar. The official opening hours of the municipal administration apply. In order to guarantee the services, please make an appointment. If possible, the notaries are also available for clients outside official opening hours. Meetings and notarisations can also be held at the Walchwil municipal building by prior arrangement.
