Truck leaks diesel

Diesel leaked from the fuel tank of a truck. Local residents were able to prevent the worst from happening.

On Tuesday morning (21 February 2023), shortly after 07:15, a lorry was reversing on Hinterbergstrasse in Walchwil to turn onto a company site. Due to the slope of the road, the lid of the fuel tank on the trailer was suddenly ripped off and diesel leaked out. Several residents observed the incident and rushed to help with buckets. They were able to collect most of the leaking diesel. A total of about 30 litres leaked into the sewers. These were pumped out by members of the Walchwil fire brigade together with a sewer cleaning company.
