Spanish vs. Italian Wines Go Head-to-Head at Walchwil Tasting Event

The Walchwil International Men’s Club hosted an evening of sophisticated palate testing at the Spritzenhaus KunsCHt Gallery, where members and guests blind-tasted and compared seven pairs of wines from Spain and Italy.

Guided by local resident and award-winning sommelier Josef Pargfrieder, attendees explored the nuances of each carefully selected vintage without knowing the labels, varietals, or prices. The unique format encouraged unbiased appreciation and lively discussion as participants voted on their preferences within each pair.

Only at the conclusion were the bottles revealed, sparking surprise and spirited debate as wine lovers discovered whether their top picks hailed from Rioja or Tuscany, a boutique vineyard or a famous estate.

The event combined education and enjoyment, showcasing Pargfrieder’s deep knowledge and passion for European wines, and highlighting the cultural richness brought together by the Walchwil community.
