During the five-week closure of the Vorderbergstrasse, the local bus will run more frequently.
The renovation work on the Vorderbergstrasse in Walchwil is progressing according to plan. However, during the upcoming, particularly intensive construction phase, the road in the Grueb area will have to be closed to vehicle traffic from 21 August to 22 September 2023. This will also involve adjustments for public transport.
On Vorderbergstrasse in Walchwil, the meteoric water pipe in the Grueb area must be renewed, among other things. Due to the tight space conditions and the curves, this work can only be carried out efficiently with a total closure of the road section for five weeks. During this time, pedestrians can pass the construction site at any time, but vehicles - both private cars and buses of the Zugerland public transport company - cannot drive through.
Municipal councillor René Peyer assures that various scenarios have been examined in advance in order to keep the inconvenience for the population as low as possible. The residents directly affected will be informed separately where they can park their cars during this time in order to be mobile at all times.
The situation with public transport is more difficult. "But we are convinced that we have found an acceptable solution with five additional local bus routes," says Peyer. "As someone who is directly affected, I am aware that the renovation and partial closure of a road that is so important for Walchwil is associated with inconvenience". The Walchwil municipal council already thanks the population for their understanding and asks for patience during the demanding construction period.
During the closure, bus line 5 cannot serve Vorderbergstrasse and Oberdorfstrasse. Line 5 will therefore turn around at Walchwil station and return to Zug via Zugerstrasse, stopping at the Hörndli replacement stop (departure from Walchwil station 3 minutes later).
Bus line 26 (local bus) runs from Walchwil station via Hinterbergstrasse through Oberdorf to the Hörndli S-Bahn stop and back to Walchwil station. During the closure, line 26 will be extended by five courses. The connection at the Hörndlirain stop to the SBB Hörndli stop of the S2 towards Zug is guaranteed.

During the closure, bus line 5 cannot serve Vorderbergstrasse and Oberdorfstrasse. Line 5 turns around at Walchwil station and returns to Zug via Zugerstrasse, stopping at the Hörndli replacement stop (departure from Walchwil station 3 minutes later).

Bus line 26 (local bus) runs from Walchwil station via Hinterbergstrasse through Oberdorf to the Hörndli S-Bahn stop and back to Walchwil station. During the closure, line 26 will be extended by five courses.
