Dear Sirs and Madams
I would like to inform you that I have decided not to stand for re-election as mayor for another term (2027–2030) in the October 2026 elections.
During my almost 15 years on the Walchwil Municipal Council, eight of which I spent as Mayor, I have had the great pleasure of contributing ideas, helping to shape policy, taking action and responding to issues in Walchwil, driving forward many changes in the administration and laying new foundations. I have also been proud to take on a great deal of responsibility for our municipality. This has always been an honour for me.
It has always been an extremely exciting and enriching time, challenging, demanding and very instructive. A time that has brought me a wealth of experience with people and everyday politics, which I have greatly enjoyed. With all the municipal and regional challenges, as well as the unexpected global ones, it has also been an intense time.
I am convinced that together we have been able to achieve a great deal of good and positive things for our residents and for the benefit of the community; a lot has been accomplished.
It is now time to make way for new forces and new ideas for the next term of office.
After my current term of office, I will turn 55 in February 2027. This is exactly the right time to devote myself fully to my own company, Geozug Ingenieure AG, again. Exciting years lie ahead. I am very much looking forward to them.
I am also looking forward to my final year in office, which I have embarked upon with great energy and enthusiasm, so that I can fulfil all my duties to the very end with total commitment and motivation.
Warm regards, Stefan Hermann
Mayor of Walchwil Head of Presidential Affairs / Finance 6318 Walchwil
Burglaries also occur in our village. Being alert helps to identify and prevent potential crimes at an early stage.
The police are therefore asking the public to report any suspicious observations immediately. If you are unsure or suspicious, call 117 directly.
Pay particular attention to unusual situations, such as unknown persons in the neighbourhood, unfamiliar vehicles driving around looking for something, or conspicuous noises. The more precise your information is, the better the police can respond.
Simple measures can also have a big impact in everyday life
– Always close and lock doors and windows – even during the day.
– Inform your neighbours if you are going to be away from home for a long period of time and ask someone to empty your letterbox. Being attentive to one another increases safety for everyone.
– Make it look like someone is at home. For example, use timers for lights or radios. Do not keep your blinds closed all the time.

On Friday (31 November 2025), the Walchwil children's traditional costume group performed at the Mütschi retirement home.
The cheerful group of children presented their skills with great enthusiasm, excitement and beaming faces. They danced simple steps to familiar melodies and created a cheerful atmosphere.
The event was organised to preserve the beautiful tradition of traditional costume dancing and to bring joy to the residents of the retirement home. Numerous residents and guests waited eagerly for the visit of the youngest members of the traditional costume group.
A big thank you goes to the dedicated leaders of the group, Edith Abegg, Sereina Rust and Julia Lambrecht. The performance was a complete success and it is to be hoped that there will be more such events in the future.
The second part of the evening was organised by the Walchwil Music School. The young musicians had the opportunity to present what they had learned to the large audience, thus contributing to the atmosphere. kh.

The traditional fair held over the weekend (11th/12th October) is a special occasion for the people of Walchwil.
It was a perfect fair in every respect. The weather was just as it should be for a fair: rain-free. And the village clubs provided a cosy atmosphere and culinary delights. What more could you want? The number of visitors reflected this. There were no incidents worth mentioning. This is anything but a matter of course and shows once again that the people of Walchwil love their fair and know how to celebrate. kh.

On Saturday, 20 September 2025, the community hall hosted a rock concert by 7tcover, which was superbly organised by the women's association. 7tcover brought the rock “n” roll of the seventies back to life.
The event was part of a Zämaparty organised by the women's association. Outside, various food stalls offered delicacies, while inside the hall, the band 7tcover provided musical entertainment.
It was particularly noticeable that many young people found their way to the community hall and enjoyed the rock music. The band managed to thrill young and old alike, proving that the right music can also appeal to young people. The event showed once again that Walchwil is not a boring village, but can positively change its image with appealing events.
Future events could continue to help promote Walchwil's positive image and showcase the diversity and vibrancy of the community.

Punctual and in high spirits, 19 men from the Walchwil Men's Club set off for Alsace with their chauffeur. After a hearty lunch at the charming Molkenrain inn, they continued on to the historic Hartmannswillerkopf. During a guided hike across the former battlefield, we gained fascinating insights into the history of the First World War – and did some unexpected altitude training.
We then checked into our accommodation at the Hotel Le Riquewihr. The pretty little town of Riquewihr with its half-timbered houses was perfect for a stroll – and provided the ideal backdrop for an aperitif in the Selig wine cellar. The convivial evening at Caveau L'Arbaletier rounded off the day with culinary delights and camaraderie.
The next morning, we drove to Colmar, where our guide Caroline took us on a tour of the picturesque old town. Between canals, alleys and stories, we learned a lot about Alsatian culture – and then about the local cuisine during lunch together.
With full bellies and many wonderful impressions in our luggage, we set off on our journey home. A successful trip – all in the spirit of enjoyment, history and good company.
It is not a matter of course to put so much time, energy and passion into organising such a club trip – which makes us appreciate your tremendous commitment all the more! Thanks to your careful planning and dedication, everything went perfectly!
Not only did you make our trip a complete success, you also created many wonderful shared memories. For this, we say from the bottom of our hearts: Thank you, Martin Hürlimann! Guido Pirovino

After the service in the Catholic church, the residents gathered at 6.30 p.m. in the Oeltrotte playground for the 1 August celebrations.
The focus was on socialising and exchanging ideas. The municipality provided refreshments, and the team from the Mütschi retirement home took care of the catering. Everyone enjoyed the performances by the Bärgtrychler, the alphorn group, the yodelling club, the music society and the traditional costume group in a relaxed atmosphere. The keynote speech was given by Walchwil Oberstlt i Gst Christophe Lanz, and the Julian von Flüe Trio provided the musical finale. The rain did not dampen the cheerful mood. kh.

On Thursday evening, 26 June, a Latina evening took place on the village square, with two fantastic bands performing.
Encantigo thrilled the audience with a fiery Latin sound, while the Barfuss Kollektiv presented traditional music from Sotavento, Mexico. The programme was complemented by performances from the associated dance school. The excellently attended event and the great atmosphere conveyed a real zest for life.

Sport, games, fitness and fun with the Walchwil men's team.
This includes floorball every Tuesday at 6.00 pm and gymnastics and games every Thursday at 8.00 pm in the upper school gym. The aim of these events is to keep fit and promote socialising. Other activities such as bowling, minigolf, air rifle shooting and much more are also included. If you only speak a little German, no problem, English is of course also spoken. A good opportunity to integrate into Walchwil.

Members of the Walchwil International Mens Club enjoyed an inspirational visit to the Fischbrutanstalt in Walchwil.
Marcel welcomed club members to the hatchery with an excellent presentation covering the important role of fish management and its impact on the Zugersee ecosystem
Members were then treated to a tour of the facility, covering all stages of fish development, from harvesting eggs through to release into the lake.
Afterwards members took a leisurely stroll to the Restaurant Sternen where they enjoyed an excellent fish dinner served with passion by hosts Noemie, Giorgio & Anita.
A truly memorable evening for all involved.

The celebration for young and old on this year's World Day of Prayer once again filled the Reformed Church in Walchwil with life.
Under the motto 'Wonderfully created', women from the Cook Islands presented this year's liturgy and insights into their life on the islands in the Pacific. Songs were sung with the help of an enthusiastic group from the village. The enchanting sounds of Domi Schriber's 'handpan' from Goldau were a highlight. The Walchwil Women's Community, with its lively liturgy group, once again spared no effort in organising a joyful and interesting celebration for all generations. Afterwards, everyone was invited to a get-together with delicious food. The children took part in arts and crafts and enjoyed showing off their creations.
The World Day of Prayer unites ecumenical women's groups from all over the world: ecumenism at its best, solidarity and compassion in joyful celebrations around the globe! Hans-Ruedi Kilchsperger

On Saturday evening, 26 October, a Halloween party took place at Zipfel Walchwil, which was superbly organised by the Walchwil International Men's Club.
Halloween (‘All Hallows’ Eve‘) stands for the folk customs celebrated on the evening before All Saints’ Day. People believed that the souls of the dead would come back to earth on this night. Scary disguises were used to drive away evil spirits.
The Zipfel was transformed into a haunted house for the event – with appropriate music from DJ Neil – to give the party a worthy setting. Around 80 people celebrated the spookiest night of the year with frightening costumes and cheerful dancing well into the night.

The club aims to foster international fellowship, support new residents, provide a bridge to other local groups, and promote member integration and community contribution.
