The ongoing drought and exceptionally high water consumption are currently placing a heavy strain on Walchwil’s water supply. It is absolutely essential to use water more sparingly in order to continue to guarantee security of supply and to conserve water resources.

Spring yields have fallen to historically low levels. Even the rainfall forecast for the coming days will not be sufficient to sustainably replenish spring and groundwater levels. The residents of Walchwil are therefore urgently urged to use water sparingly and to limit consumption to what is strictly necessary.

What should you bear in mind?

– Take a shower instead of a bath.
– Do not carry out cleaning tasks under running water.
– Have leaky cisterns and dripping taps repaired immediately.
– Stop cleaning work involving water on building sites.
– Water sensitive plants using a watering can.

Prohibited with immediate effect!

– Watering gardens
– Watering lawns
– Filling swimming pools
– Washing cars and hosing down driveways

The Municipal Council and the Walchwil Corporation appeal to the public to act responsibly and thank them for implementing these measures.

This appeal remains in force until further notice from the water supply company and the municipality.
