Anton Kälin: A life for the bird world

In 1985, Anton Kälin (born 1938) took over the care of the bird nesting boxes, a period of 40 years.

A truly long time. Now he is handing over the care of the nesting boxes to a younger man – (Süren)-Franz.

Kälin's great passion for birds and nature was reflected in his work as a bird warden. All species of tits, nuthatches and even pied flycatchers lived in his tried and tested wooden boxes. Four times a year, Kälin from Walchwil cleaned and maintained the countless nesting boxes.

Kälin worked as a teacher in Walchwil, which further strengthened his love of nature and his commitment to protecting birds. kh.
