Accurate on target, relaxed in enjoyment

Once a year, the Walchwil Men’s Shooting Club swaps dumbbells for rifles – much to the delight of the muscles, which were able to sit back and relax that evening.

At Büel, we were guests of the Walchwil Shooting Club and realised that aiming is also a form of fitness – just more for the eyes than for the thighs.

With a more or less steady hand, we took aim, targeted and fired. The simple rule applied: every shot a hit – it’s bound to have landed somewhere. The bullseye wasn’t always in danger, but the good humour on the target was all the more so.

Martin Hürlimann emerged as the undisputed sharpshooter of the evening, whilst others shone more in the creative scatter – after all, one wants to make use of the whole target.

After the relaxed sporting session, we moved seamlessly on to the men’s team’s real forte: a cosy get-together. Here, we didn’t aim, we hit the mark straight away – namely, the culinary bullseye. Paul Rub’s legendary sparrow dish left nothing to be desired and ensured that by the end, not only the hit rate but also our waistlines had expanded a little.

A big thank you to Paul for the delicious food and to the Walchwil Shooting Club for their hospitality – we’d love to come back, at the latest when it’s time to say once again: fitness was yesterday, today we’re shooting! kh.
