The 2025 financial statements of the Municipality of Walchwil are significantly better than budgeted. Thanks to a disciplined spending policy and higher tax revenues, income of CHF 34.0 million and expenditure of CHF 26.3 million have resulted in a surplus of CHF 7.7 million. The budget had forecast a surplus of CHF 1.7 million.

Ordinary tax revenues exceeded the budget by CHF 6.3 million. This is mainly attributable to additional revenue from personal income tax from previous years (+CHF 5.9 million). It should be noted, however, that due to subsequent ordinary assessments of persons subject to withholding tax, corresponding offsetting entries had to be made against withholding tax revenue (-CHF 2.5 million). Tax revenue from personal income tax in the reference year (+CHF 1.7 million) and from personal wealth tax from previous years (+CHF 1.0 million) also exceeded the budgeted figure.

Total expenditure was approximately CHF 0.6 million higher than budgeted. In most areas, expenditure was within budget or below it. However, the calculated contribution to the Zug Financial Equalisation Scheme (ZFA) resulted in costs that were CHF 1.7 million higher, due to the higher tax revenues.

Net investments in 2025 totalled CHF 0.5 million. The budgeted figure was CHF 1.2 million. Some projects were brought forward or could not be implemented.

Net assets at the end of 2025 stood at CHF 39,375,883, corresponding to per capita assets of CHF 9,815 (previous year: CHF 7,657). The population has risen from 3,994 to 4,012.

The results of the 2025 income statement are as follows:

At the municipal assembly on 23 June 2026, the Municipal Council will propose using part of the surplus of approximately CHF 7.7 million to pre-finance the depreciation of the school expansion project. CHF 2.0 million is to be allocated for this purpose. The remaining CHF 5.7 million is to be allocated to retained earnings.

Following these allocations, retained earnings will amount to approximately CHF 51.7 million. Walchwil Municipal Council
